Medieval Torture Museum

This museum is housed in historic vaulted cellars covering an area of 1000 square metres. It shows the legal history of the Middle Ages including the persecution of witches in Germany. The museum holds an extensive collection of extremely impressive torture equipment. The valuable portrait collection of known Masters from that time also gives testament to the medieval centuries. A photo documentary display by amnesty international on the subject of human rights violations in the 20th and 21st centuries rounds off the largest exhibit in Europe on the subject of torturing witches by burning at the stake.
