Oberwesel House of Culture Museum

The museum was finished in 2003 and is housed in the Kulturhaus (House of Culture). It shows aspects from the town history of Oberwesel from its origins to the present-day. Roman amphora, the development of the medieval town, the history of Schönburg and the wine market, engravings, portraits, precious reliquaries and ecclesiastical vestments, the original, maintained salon of the Hofmann wine-growing estate, remembrances of the Rhine Romantics period - all of this can be seen over two floors. The third floor is dedicated to Rhine shipping and salmon fishing (models, staged displays, films). Modern communication technology also allows visitors to watch the ships on the Rhine.
