Mittelstrimmig "Heimat" Museum

This former electrical mill has housed the Heimat Museum of Mittelstrimmig since 1978. In 1949, the Mittelstrimmig mill society was instrumental in erecting the building which operated as a flour mill until 1959. The Heimat museum's collection not only incorporates items from the former mill (a grist-mill, for example, which was still in use until 1978), but primarily agricultural and forestry equipment. A cobbler's and coachmaker's workshop give an insight into village crafts. The museum also displays a Hunsrück kitchen from our grandmother's generation as well as a bedroom with side rooms. A small Roman exhibition and a display on slate mining complement the museum's exhibits.
